Date posted: September 11, 2013

A fleet of 30 supercar owners will be making their way from Muscat, Oman to the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in a 1,500km run over five days on 29th October to ultimately reach the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Arranged by the organisers of the Run to Monaco event, it promises to be an exclusive and extravagant event, with no expense spared – perfect for petrol heads with a whole lot of money to spend. According to the organiser, the route will bring together the highest leveks of luxury, cuisine, entertainment and glamour.

The route
The lavish route won’t just be a simple ride in the desert. To start things off, participants will have dinner on the beach in Oman at the Chedi Muscat, a hotel famed for Middle Estern architecture, fancy fusion food and sublime views of the Al Hajar Mountains or the Gulf of Oman.

Participants will then make the thrilling journey through deserts and mountains of the Middle East, stopping off for private excursions along the way on a route devised by Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi). Of course, they will be staying in the highest quality accommodation only fit for a Bugatti or Maserati owner.

The Prix
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is already a renowned world-class sporting event and Nabeel Al Zarouni, TCA Abu Dhabi’s country manager believes that the Run to Yas only builds on this legacy. “It offers motorsport enthusiasts the world over a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to experience the many faces of Abu Dhabi – from stunning deserts and verdant oasis, to world-class hospitality venues and the emirate’s flagship sporting event, the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.”

The Grand Prix takes place from 1-3 November and was first held back in 2009. Sebastian Vettel has won it twice, with Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen being the victors for the other two races.

This year, Vettel is competing again, in the hopes of reclaiming his crown. Currently Vettel is in the lead in the Forumla 1 standings followed by Fernando Alonso and Hamilton in third. Only five points separates him and Raikkonen.

The perks
The highest road in Oman at the peak of the Jebel Shams Mountain will be closed off for the Run To Yas’ guests, after they’ve traversed the 250,00sq mile Empty Quarter. Participants will also be able to race their supercars in the exclusive Dubai Autodrome – usually only reserved for F1 drivers. Plus, when they get to the Yas Marina Circuit, they’ll race alongside a current F1 driver.

Two veteran F1 drivers will be joining in the run, including Damon Hill and when the entourage arrives at the main event, they’ll watch it all from the rooftop Champions Lounge and then round it off with access to the most exclusive after parties.

The price? A cool £25,000 for two people sharing one car. It shoots up to £30,000 if you need to hire a supercar too. For more information, visit http://therunto.com/
